Supporting, scaling, and developing new opportunities for our districts, schools, and students
One of our goals at the County Office is to have a “universal transcript” for students that supports fluid transfer throughout schools in the county. We have a large military and migrant population, and families will often transfer to other schools within the county. In this process, schools spend additional time transferring data which is often cumbersome requiring hard copies of records that must be reconciled by hand. Our county office serves over 40 school districts, and student transcripts don’t necessarily match between each district. With data interoperability, we can ensure that students are registered for classes that best meet their current skill levels.
The most requested data in the three school districts we’re working with was related to literacy. There are a lot of factors and measures around reading levels that would help teachers make instructional choices. We decided to focus on elementary data to begin with, as it is less ambiguous than high school literacy data (comprehension, connection, interpretation, etc).
