Recognizing educators as our greatest resource and putting students first
Traditional education has focused on tests and theoretical application of concepts, however we feel that this leaves students ill-prepared for their professional lives. Following our Strategic Plan for 2016-2021, our outcomes generate improved skills most critical to college and workplace success including critical thinking, adaptability, problem solving, perseverance, collaboration, and creativity. We do this by promoting College and Career Readiness, Experiential Education through Community Partners, and Global Competence.
BWRSD creates a network for students, parents and staff to access real world opportunities for learning. These take on the form of internships, externships, and summer programs. We’ve recently expanded to include virtual collaborations and other events with industry partners both in and out of school. This ensures multiple avenues for career awareness and exploration so that students may make informed decisions about their future. We provide them with individual learning plans which support academic, social, and career goals through interdisciplinary learning. Simultaneously, our students are learning skills for the 21st century while earning college credits and industry certifications.
Ultimately, we will ensure that all students will be able to compete academically and professionally in a global society by meeting internationally benchmarked standards and learning expectations. This fosters an interest in working with people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, proficiency in foreign languages, and in-depth knowledge and understanding of international issues to function in a global society.
