Plans for continued work

Develop a dashboard for assessment data

As a next step, we hope to provide teachers with a dashboard that clearly reflects student achievement data so that it can impact instructional choices. Starting out, we will focus on 3rd and 4th grade assessment data. Over time, we hope to expand this tool to support more grades.

Create collective demand to engage more vendors

The missing piece for integrating more applications into the operational data store and dashboard is data compliance and Ed-Fi certified vendors. Custom integrations aren’t scalable in the long term, so we hope to get more vendors to put data standardization on their roadmap.

Create local networks focused on data interoperability

Being part of the League of Innovative Schools Data Interoperability Challenge Collaborative was a huge support and resource for us. Now, we hope to develop local networks focused on data interoperability. As we learned in our conversations with vendors, the best thing we can do to push for change is to get a larger number of districts advocating for the safe and secure exchange of data between applications.

Advocate for greater awareness around data privacy and security

One vital piece that we hope doesn’t get lost in this conversation is greater awareness around data privacy and security. With data interoperability, districts are less vulnerable. We hope the pursuit of better systems will also promote better data governance.
