Weaving arts, culture, and technology into the heart of learning
We have been developing ideas through a number of community conversations designed to co-create student learning in Sitka. Our hope is to listen to and learn from our Elders and community members to alter practices in our district, at the classroom- and systems-levels. For example, the school calendar does not align with seasonal cultural activities, such as harvesting herring eggs or processing salmon. We have gathered input and are making our first steps in implementing changes based on what we are hearing from the community.
