We are committed to providing personalized learning opportunities for students. However, to create these opportunities, educators need to be able to leverage student data to identify gaps and inform instruction. Without the seamless and secure exchange of data into a useful tool for teachers, it is unnecessarily difficult to use that data in a way that best serves students’ unique needs.
Three times a year, our teachers have “Data Days” dedicated to gathering and analyzing assessment data and planning how to use it to better support students. Because this information is coming from so many disparate sources, too much of the time is spent pulling data for review, rather than analyzing it. Some teachers try to use data more regularly than Data Days—like Ginger Jones, a third grade teacher at Hook Elementary. For Ginger, that means a good part of her week is spent on the time-intensive work of copying and pasting data in spreadsheets after every assignment.
