Dream big, harness creativity, and through design, make the impossible possible
One of the biggest hurdles for us was the lack of consistency in shared data standards with third party vendors. We hope that shared data standards will be prevalent in the future, and we plan to advocate for this shift.
Now that we have some data integrated into our ODS, we want to design a visualization that teachers could use to inform instruction. This prototype should include both standards-based assessment data and gradebook information. We still have work to do with integrating data to make this happen, but we hope a prototype will help teachers see the possibilities.
We learned that not all teachers are using digital gradebooks with students in the same way. To have consistency across grade levels, we want to support teachers in developing their data literacy–not just how they input data, but how they evaluate it and use it to make decisions.
Eventually, we want to provide all teachers with quick access to actionable, standards-based data on student achievement and need. Our original goal is still in sight. Everything we do is to support students, and this initiative brings us one step closer.
