Gregg Behr

Executive Director, Grable Foundation

About
In his twelfth year as executive director of the Grable Foundation, Gregg Behr manages a grantmaking portfolio advancing high-quality early childhood education, improved teaching and learning in public schools, and robust out-of-school time support. In Pittsburgh, he co-chairs Remake Learning. From 2002-2006, Mr. Behr served as president of The Forbes Funds, another Pittsburgh-based foundation that supports nonprofit capacity-building, research, and leadership development.

Sunanna Chand

Director, Remake Learning

About
Prior to her work with Remake Learning, Sunanna was the Community Outreach Coordinator for Mayor Melvin “Kip” Holden of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she led a multi-sector public health network, Healthy BR. She also taught 1st and 2nd grade in Baton Rouge, during which time she saw first hand how technology could engage her students. Sunanna has an M.Ed in International Education Policy & Management and a BA in English and Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Jackie Johns

Communications Specialist, Remake Learning

About
Jackie manages daily network communications and supports strategy development, storytelling, and special projects to amplify the innovative work and success of network members. Prior to her work at Remake, Jackie spent six years in marketing, fundraising, and volunteer management for human service nonprofits, including several years as the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s community engagement manager. Jackie graduated from Seton Hill University with a bachelor’s degree in communication.

Valerie Kinloch

Renée and Richard Goldman Dean of the School of Education and Professor, University of Pittsburgh

About
Valerie Kinloch is the Renée and Richard Goldman Dean of the School of Education and Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. Her scholarship examines the literacies and community engagements of youth and adults inside and outside schools. She is the author of many publications on race, place, literacy, and equity. Valerie received her undergraduate degree from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC, and her graduate degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

LaTrenda Leonard Sherrill

STE(A)M and Computer Science Working Groups Lead, Remake Learning

About
LaTrenda has worked in youth development, social services, communications, government, and education. As Deputy Chief of Education for Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto she liased on education and economic recovery initiatives, including My Brother’s Keeper and TechHire. She has worked with multiple groups to increase local summer youth activities and employment. She has a BS from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Carlow University and is on the board of two youth-focused organizations.

Ani Martinez

Field Director, Remake Learning

About
Ani is a professional facilitator, organizer, and social scientist living in Pittsburgh’s North Side. As the Field Director for the Remake Learning Network, Martinez coordinates services such as in-person conversations, micro-grants, and storytelling opportunities for thousands of educators, innovators, and change agents throughout the region. She has been a specialist in digital media fluency and formerly worked for The Sprout Fund where she led the Digital Corps and Rec2Tech Pittsburgh.

Allie Mullins

About
Following her undergraduate career, Allie completed an AmeriCorps VISTA program. She coordinated, evaluated, and constructed three community service-based programs in literacy, mentorship, and the arts. She is passionate about the performing arts and working within the non-profit education sector. She strives for increased creativity, diversity and inclusion, and accessibility. In addition to working with Remake Learning, she is pursuing her master’s degree in Arts Administration at Drexel.

Tyler Samstag

Director of Instructional Innovation, Allegheny Intermediate Unit

About
Tyler is a Remake Learning Ambassador who is interested in the intersection of education, technology, and design. He started his career as a special education teacher in New York City. Later, Tyler facilitated workshops at MIT and across Harvard’s graduate schools focusing on design thinking, human-centered design, and rapid prototyping. He regularly supports educators in the thoughtful integration of new technologies and teaching practices.

Dorie Taylor

With nearly 20 years of experience, Dorie has produced unique events with remarkable staff from an array of organizations. She is honored to work with an enthusiastic and engaged Remake Learning Council and serve as the Producer of the 2017 Remake Learning Days. Combining her arts management education from Carnegie Mellon University and work experience from premiere institutions, Dorie successfully produces events befitting of an organization’s mission and beneficial to the community.

Kathryn Vargas

Director of Instructional Innovation, Allegheny Partners for Out-of-School Time

About
Kathryn joins APOST with a background in youth service. Kathryn previously served as Senior Manager of United for Children at United Way of Southwestern PA. In this position, she worked with a team to ensure that United Way’s investments in the community are best positioned to have a significant impact on Pittsburgh area youth. Kathryn received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh her Bachelors in Sociology and International Studies from Mount St. Mary’s University.
