Supporting, scaling, and developing new opportunities for our districts, schools, and students
Through the iTV Learning Lab, high school students participate in in-classroom and in-studio learning opportunities that deliver authentic industry experiences.
Working directly with the iTV Cable 16 team at the San Diego County Office of Education, students gain not only valuable insights into working in entertainment, but also applicable, real-world skills.
During the Learning Lab, students learn new techniques, use equipment, develop storytelling strategies, and practice other competencies related to the entertainment industry.
There are different experiences available to students, depending on their experience level, interests, and needs. In one instance, students assume the roles of a news team and create a package story. In another, students work as a crew and the iTV team works as producers. Groups of students typically range in size from a few to more than 30, depending on the size of the class and the project at hand.
In fall 2018, approximately 200 students participated in the Lab, developing creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills needed for any industry.
