Pascack Valley Regional High School District

Our Internship and Career Exploration Program is an interactive learning partnership between the high school community and the workplace designed to help students increase their knowledge and abilities in a select area of study and in the working world. All senior students, regardless of academic ability or area of interest, have an opportunity to participate. The combined experience takes place under the guidance of an internship coordinator, a job coach, and a mentor at the internship site. The program serves our senior students, as well as those of two nearby districts. Internships are unpaid, the district covers liability, and the New Jersey Departments of Education and Labor support the program. Our district’s 18-21 Special Education Transition program has their own coordinator for their participation and works with these students to help them with their future careers.

Our program, now a part of the national CAPS (Center for Advanced Professional Studies) network, is the premier internship program in Northern New Jersey. Internship positions are readily available in health care, social media marketing, law enforcement, film production, landscape design, engineering, as well as in many other fields, including accounting and finance, automotive, biology, business, chemistry, culinary, education and teaching, energy, fashion design, first responder services, graphic design, medicine, nursing, sales, veterinary, and zoology. Each year, we continue to look to expand the program with both student and local business participation.
