Dream big, harness creativity, and through design, make the impossible possible
Our district vision is equity and excellence in education. In partnership with home and community, our mission is to provide an innovative learning environment that engages and empowers each student to develop the knowledge and essential skills to become a competent, responsible and compassionate citizen. By helping teachers see a unified view of student achievement, we can assist them in their plans to support every student in the future.
Beginning in 2015, we reduced significantly our district-required assessments. We made some assessments optional and prioritized those that support the monitoring of student progress and continuous growth. After completing an initial review and making our assessment practices more efficient, we estimated that 900 minutes of instructional time, on average, were returned to the classroom across grades 3-8.
Our next step is to streamline the data being gathered from these assessments. Currently, we run integrations and in-house data visualizations among 37 different systems and tools. Processing them takes a lot of time and resources. To be more effective, we need to streamline our processes. Teachers and specialists must be able to use reports to create intervention groups, meet with students, and help them set goals.
