Harnessing data to help learners succeed
Partnerships with a local university and think tank help educators provide informed interventions to help students succeed

Through its multi-year professional development program with the National Center on Intensive Intervention (NCII), we have implemented intensive intervention using the Data-Based Individualization (DBI) process. Working with NCII and the University of Connecticut, we piloted a sequence of courses focused on explicit instruction, intensive intervention in reading and math, and classroom behavioral support with the special educators in our district. Through this work, we saw incredible growth for students across the district.

We've since expanded the program to include numerous trainings for special education staff and reading and math specialists in the use of evidence-based Tier 3 interventions. The NCII training has greatly influenced the work underway in each school to strengthen the Response to Intervention (RtI) process in Grades K-8 and Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) at the high school.
