When schools can learn from schools, we can improve student achievement in Kansas City. The reality is, schools must continuously improve. There are reservoirs of expertise that exist but much remains untapped and unseen. For this reason, The Kansas City Education Collective creates supportive, face-to-face, right-fit professional learning spaces for educators to see, share, and refine their practice across schools in Kansas City by hosting an unconference.
This unconference is an interactive, collaborative and dynamic event for Kansas City educators. Through the unconference, participants will be able to see, share, and refine best practices with other educators across the city. At each unconference, attendees participate in a 10-10-10 strategy: 10 minutes of presenting ideas, 10 minutes of group discussion and feedback, and 10 minutes for networking and follow-up.
Attendees also participate in a Design Summit, where they learn how to create prototype solutions to their challenges and implement them in the classroom within one-two weeks. The sessions involve brainstorming problems, sharing stories, defining challenges and exploring solutions.
