International Baccalaureate Diploma Program: A Holistic Approach to Teaching and Learning
Students have the opportunity to participate in challenging academic curriculum that serves as preparation for higher education

Students who attend Freehold Township High School and Howell High School may elect to join the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, a challenging academic curriculum that serves as outstanding preparation for university and higher education. IB Diploma Programs are offered in only 17 of New Jersey’s high schools, with the FRHSD being home to two of those. In Freehold Township’s first two years of IB assessments, 52% and 67% of IB graduates achieved the IB Diploma.

The IB Program is a two-year international education program that prepares students for success going into, and throughout, university. The IB Program offers a holistic approach to teaching and learning with a keen focus on developing intercultural awareness. Students learn to explore and understand the world around them through inquiry, critical thinking, and open-mindedness.

Students from the first two graduating classes (the classes of 2017 and 2018) received over $15 million in scholarship offers, attending schools such as Cornell, Duke, Vanderbilt, the University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Virginia, to name a few. Participation in the program has increased each year. In the 2019-2020 school year, 78 students will participate in this program.
