Middletown City School District

To increase educator talent in the district, our Human Resources department developed a profile of the ideal urban educator, including attributes like trust, high expectations, flexibility, and empathy. Each year, we market our district's urban profile with local higher education institutions to recruit teachers, focusing on multiple touch points. Every spring, we host an Urban Educator Event where urban-minded educators are invited to get to know our district. Prospective candidates participate in activities designed to evaluate whether we’re good matches for each other. Once on board, we place our new educators in a cohort for three years to ensure they successfully become part of the organization and community.

We are intentional and fastidious about our recruitment, ensuring we are recruiting team members with growth mindsets who will contribute to the positivity of the culture at Middletown and have our students’ best interests at heart.
