Through a partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, we analyzed the most effective personalized learning strategies. Five years ago, we started to focus on personalized learning using iPads. We implemented K-8 NWEA Map Assessments in reading and mathematics three times per year. We then upload the student data to several different adaptive software technologies to customize learning for all students.

Using these learnings, with the support of a grant from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, we use eSpark to measure student progress and create personalized learning experience. We built personalized learning time into the daily schedule, and students now get 30 minutes of math and 30 minutes of reading based on their data. Students are able to receive enrichment or remediation during this personalized learning time. Students are also grouped on a weekly basis during personalized learning time based on the NWEA data and classroom data.
